The Drawmer CMC7 is a compact eight-channel 7.1/5.1 surround monitor controller that provides a cost-effective alternative to the more complex and comprehensive Drawmer MC7.1. To achieve its compact size and budget friendly design, the CMC7 does without controls and functions often found in a DAW. Instead, the CMC7 focuses on its essential functions: Easy to use and a high-quality signal path that guarantees transparent sound quality in all channels and intuitive operation.
Whether it's productions for film and television or listeners wanting to experience the listening experience in a concert hall, one thing is certain: the number of customers who want to listen to audio productions in a surround configuration has grown significantly and will continue to grow in the future. The low-cost CMC7 provides all the surround production features you need without the expense of other setups.
Accurate and transparentThe CMC7 Surround Monitor Controller comes from the same product family as the MC2.1, MC3.1 and MC7.1 models and therefore delivers the same high quality. The circuit is as transparent as it is accurate. Its controls have the same feel and the operation of the large volume control provides the same smooth control feel with excellent channel balancing.
With all Drawmer monitor controllers, this ensures that your recording exactly matches what you hear acoustically. The active circuit design ensures true signal reproduction and avoids many of the known problems of passive circuit concepts. This makes it all the more important that you can rely on the signal fidelity of your monitor controller at all times.
surround soundFor simple cabling, the eight inputs and eight outputs are provided via two symmetrical 25-pin D-Sub connectors with Tascam standard pin assignment. Eight independent channels are offered: 5.1, 7.1, Quadro, DTS®, Dolby Digital EX,THX Surround EX™, DTS-HD™, Dolby Atmos® etc. - the configuration is left to the user.
By activating the stereo mix switch, a surround mix is fed as a 2.1 signal to the two front speakers and the subwoofer in order to test the quality of the recording at any time in stereo mode. In addition, a professional-quality stereo headphone output is available, which is equipped with a separate amplifier and volume control for silent control of the mix. In addition, there is a DIM switch for reducing the output level by 20 decibels and a MUTE switch that completely mutes the output.
precisionThe circuit design of the CMC7 ensures that the adjustment between all eight channels is constant over the entire control range of the volume potentiometer. Other manufacturers of surround controllers often use multi-coupled potentiometers to control the levels in all eight channels: This applies in particular to passive controllers. This approach simplifies the circuit, but leads to sometimes considerable level deviations between the individual channels, especially at particularly low or high volumes.
CompactThe compact housing of the CMC7 conceals comprehensive functionality. With a footprint of 18 x 16 cm and its low height, the CMC7 fits on any workstation and is small enough to carry in a bag to any conceivable location.
Robust and safeDespite its compact dimensions, the robust and at the same time attractive steel housing is designed to withstand the rigours of everyday studio use. High-quality technical components were used to ensure reliable operation of the CMC7 over a long period of time. The controller can also be protected against theft via an opening for a Kensington lock.
