The DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Station is a practical bass preamp in a pedalboard-friendly format, providing top-quality bass sounds for direct stage recording or recording studio sessions. Here, the preamp developed by Humboldt Electronics delivers multi-faceted clean and overdrive sounds in the style of the probably most legendary tube bass amplifier, while the analog speaker simulation by DSM Noisemaker promises particularly natural sound experiences. In addition, the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Station offers a parallel signal path for the clean signal, as well as extensive connections for integrating additional effects units and direct bass signal extraction.
At the heart of the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Station are two separate, fully analog signal paths, which can be used to create multifaceted bass sounds. The preamp path is based on the classic American all-tube bass amp, so that, depending on the position of the gain control, crystal-clear clean or juicy crunch is available. The tone color can also be precisely adjusted via a 3-band equalizer with semi-parametric midband, while the effects path allows the integration of external bass effects. The blend control adds the clean signal of the parallel path if desired, with either the full-range sound available or a low-pass filter removing the highs from 100 Hz or 500 Hz. The parallel path of the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier Bass Station also has its own effects path.
Last but not least, the Simplifier Bass Station comes with extensive connections for the bass signal. While the output jack can be used to pass the signal to a bass amplifier in the classic way, the balanced XLR-DI outputs output both the overall sound and the separate parallel signal. The Bass Station also features a headphone output and an aux-in for playback of backing tracks.
