The Epiphone J-200 CE Studio Parlor VN is the compact version of the flat-top classic SJ-200 from Gibson and thus produces a very midrange-rich sound that is enriched by warm bass frequencies. Thanks to a solid top, all tones are unfolded quickly and over a wide area, so that the small acoustic guitar has an amazing sound volume. At the same time the short neck promises a comfortable grip in all frets, which get an optimized access with the help of a generous cutaway. In addition, the instrument is equipped with a high-quality pickup system with a side preamp, which has extensive adjustment possibilities. Visually, the guitar is rounded off by detailed inlay work and a gauzy high-gloss finish.
Construction and woodsIn order for the Epiphone J-200 CE Studio Parlor to produce a balanced sound, the top is made of solid spruce. Laminated Ovangkol back and sides add a pleasant saturation to the individual frequencies, making the instrument suitable for both Pickings and vocal accompaniment. The flat maple neck with walnut insert and Pau Ferro fingerboard offers the player excellent playability, which is significantly influenced by the Slim Taper C profile and the Cutaway.
Hardware and DesignThe compensated bridge inlay and the slim 42,9 mm nut made of bone provide a clean intonation on the whole scale length of 628 mm. The headstock is fitted with gold Grover mini tun ers, which guarantee precise tuning of the 6 steel strings. The frets are marked with discreet dot inlays for orientation. On the 12th fret there is also an eye-catching crown inlay. To highlight the top, it is bordered with filigree multi-ply bindings that perfectly match the double ring soundhole rosette. The appearance is refined by a high-gloss finish in Vintage Natural.
ElectronicsThe guitar is equipped with a Fishman Presys pickup system, which transmits the acoustic sound unaltered to the respective amplifier. Furthermore, thanks to a side preamp with 3-band equalizer, it is possible to adjust the output signal individually. Conveniently, the preamp is equipped with a tuner that displays the pitch via a Display. The system is powered by a 9V block battery .
