2 channel microphone pre-amp & compressor The Fredenstein F200 is a 2 channel microphone preamplifier / compressor. The compressor is based on FET architecture, similar to the UREI 1176LN. Similar to the UREI 1176LN, the F200 also has a fixed threshold, however with a specially developed circuit design distortion is avoided, the signal-to-noise ratio is improved and the total harmonic distortion lowered. The microphone pre- amp, a Class-A amplifier with no internal negative feedback, is a detail rich all-rounder with a fresh and present ground sound. The mixer stage at the device output allows any parallel microphone combination with uncompressed amplified inputs and the edited compressor signal. Two VE-metres show the output level or the gain reduction. Both channels can be switched to a stereo compressor via a link-switch.
This allows the F200 to operate in three different ways: 1. Microphone pre-amp 2. Compressor (Line level signals can be used with Pad), with adjustable attack and release times and ratio. 3. A mix of uncompressed and compressed signal (a.k.a. Dry/Wet feature).
