To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the famous Les Paul SG, Gibson is launching the Gibson 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Custom Sideways Vibrola Classic White , a very special model that is based on the original specifications of the Gibson Les Paul SG Custom of 1961 down to the smallest detail. As a true derivative of the Gibson Custom Shop, the instrument comes with a Gibson hardshell case and a signed certificate of authenticity.
Classic design with two hornsAs an authentic reissue model, the construction of the 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Custom Sideways Vibrola White follows the historical specifications and is formed from a one-piece mahogany body, which with its iconic double-cut design allows unhindered left-hand access to the highest positions of the fingerboard. The neck in the slim Authentic '61 Thin profile is also made of mahogany and carries the traditional Custom model matching an ebony fingerboard with white binding all around. On top there are 22 frets in the original Authentic Medium Jumbo size.
For the famous tonal variety of the Gibson '61 Les Paul SG in Custom finish, three Gibson Custombuckers occupy the neck, middle and bridge positions of this reissue model. Here the traditional Gibson 3-pickup-wiring is used, which optionally switches the neck pickup alone, bridge and middle together in the intermediate position or the bridge humbucker solo. On the other hand, if you appreciate the tonal qualities of the middle pickup, you can simply turn off the bridge humbucker in the intermediate position of the switch using the separate volume control. For authentic Treble roll-offs with vocal character the instrument furthermore offers original Black Beauty capacitors and real CTS potentiometers.
Sideways Vibrola in Aged Gold finishMatching the Classic White nitrocellulose finish of the 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Custom is a true-to-the-original hardware finish in the noble Aged Gold Look for a coherent overall picture. This remains true to the specifications of the year 1961 and is composed of the combination of Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge and classic Sideways Vibrola, as it was used in the first years of construction of the SG. The vibrato system, which was only used in the first years of the Les Paul SG, is rarely found nowadays and is especially appreciated by connoisseurs and Gibson aficionados due to its idiosyncratic design. The hardware of the Gibson 60th Anniversary 1961 Les Paul SG Custom Sideways Vibrola Classic White is completed by the Grover tuners with classic Kidney wings used on the Custom version.
