With the Gibson Hummingbird Custom Dreadnought, the traditional manufacturer from Bozeman, Montana, presents a high-quality Custom Shop Western guitar that impresses with its fine tone woods, detailed inlay work, fine Bindings and, last but not least, a unique sound. Thanks to a flat bracing, the sound unfolds quickly and comprehensively even with light strokes, so that the instrument is excellently suited for expressive strumming and delicate picking. As the name suggests, the hummingbird plays a significant role, which has been lovingly handcrafted into the intricate design. The scope of delivery includes a sturdy case and a Gibson accessory kit.
The construction of the topTo create clear and defined mid and treble frequencies, the manufacturer uses the wood of the North American Sitka spruce for the top . With the help of a hand-finished Scalloped-X bracing , the top vibrates very easily, so that every note is produced in a fast response. To emphasize the even grain of the tonewood, top is edged with an elaborate multi-ply binding made of abalone , which is perfectly matched to the multi-stripe soundhole rosette . The highlight of top is undoubtedly the extensive tortoise pickguard with flowers , a butterfly and last but not least a hummingbird made of abalone and mother-of-pearl .
Back and sidesAnother special feature of the Gibson Hummingbird Custom is the multi-faceted koa wood of the back and sides . The Hawaiian precious wood is often used in the custom shop because of its striking structure and color gradients and furthermore provides enthusiasm with its warm and comprehensive tone. The back is also bordered with a filigree worked binding of abalone , which creates a tasteful contrast to the tonewood. In addition, the hinged back is separated with a color-coordinated back stripe that breaks up the opposing flames of the grain and blends excellently with the dark inclusions of the wood.
Neck, Hardware & DesignWith its Round profile , the mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard ensures a comfortable grip in all 20 frets . To ensure that every note sounds clean, the 43.8 mm wide nut and compensated saddle are made of bone . Thus the instrument intonates very precisely over the entire scale length of almost 629 mm. At the same time golden Grover tuners guarantee a comfortable tuning of the 6 steel strings , which are fixed with bridge pins made of bone in the typical belly-up bridge made of ebony with hummingbird inlays . Detailed Hummingbird custom mother-of-pearl inlays stretched across the entire fretboard for markers, topped off by a generous inlay on the headstock. The gauzy nitro finish completes the all-around successful instrument.
