Pearl Reference Pure RFP-924XSP/C, Matte Black #125

The Reference Pure sets from pearl give the term ‘High-End’ a whole new sound. The three woods- maple, birch and mahogany (each layer 0.9mm) are combined to create the relative sound characteristics and drum size. Small drums have a more Birch and less Maple. As the drum increases in size so does the relative amount of Maple and the amount of Birch used decreases. Beyond a diameter of 13” the amount of Maple is decreased and ‘replaced’ by Mahogany, the bigger the diameter – the more mahogany. The result is drums which have a ground sound which are already perfectly in-tune with each other.

Further developments make playing on this drum sets to a real sound experience: the small STL Tube Lugs as well as the thin “Fat Tone”- hoops allow the drum to vibrate without resistance. The OptiMount Tom mounts consists of aluminium and effortlessly assists in the delivery of “Ideal Vibration Behaviour”. The premium lacquer and foil finishes round it off respectively.
