No one could have expected the huge and continuing influence that the Roland TB-303 would have on the Dance music scene since its introduction in the 1980s through to today. This machine was considered the standard in the electronic music movement, especially Acid House, and until today has been the basis for world famous tracks. Not only where songs produced with the TB-303, but it was itself the subject of many compositions. The release of the TB-303 was one of the deciding moments in the history of dance music. Not bad for a small silver box!
Shortly after the introduction of the TB-303 in 1981, it quickly became an indispensible Bass synthesizer. During the development of the TB-3 Touch Bassline, all of the details of the sound generator of the TB-303 was carefully analyzed and reconstructed with help from the Analog Circuit Behaviour Technology. This made it possible to model the saw-tooth and rectangular wave-form oscillators. Including the -18dB/Octave low-pass filter of the original TB-303 with an unmistakable sound characteristic of the cut-off frequencies and resonance. The TB-3 possesses 134 sounds including the classic TB-303 sounds with exceptional sound character, including Synth Bass, Hard Distortions Bass, Delay Sounds and further unusual effects. A TB bass line not only sounds unique, but also feels like something special. The TB pulses, it grooves, it lives. The engineers at Roland have inimitably recreated the sound characters of the TB-303's parameters such as Accent, Slide and the playing behaviour of the Step Sequencer.
The touch sensitive pads of the TB-3 shine bright in red and green. They allow you to create and playback patterns live, without interrupting your workflow. Man and machine are in constant interaction. You can control not only the pitch and volume, but also manipulate and modulate the filters by pressing a pad. Playing the keyboard feels simply fantastic.!!!
