Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Snare 13"x5,5" Cherry Bomb

The Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Snare Cherry Bomb 13x5.5" is a distinctive drum engineered using the famous “Concept Hybrid” approach to sound design, shell composition and drum construction to make a snare suitable for professional live and studio players.

These snare drums are equipped with Puresound Custom Series 16-Strand Wires that feature medium-gauge wire with evenly spaced standard coils, thereby providing an even balance between snare response and shell sound. The Cylinder-Drive Strainer and Butt-End Adjuster use a self-lubricating bearing to ensure a smooth operation. The adjustment dial employs “micro-lock” technology that provides precise control and prevents the snare wires from loosening during play.

The Cherry Bomb models are crafted with a medium-thick Cherrywood shell that absorbs higher overtones, delivering a warm, focused tone and a punchy backbeat. With a vintage sound and feel, this snare drum is built with modern precision, reliability, and function. As a softer wood, the Cherry shell produces a pre-EQ’d sound with strong response in the 400-600 Hz range for a strong low-end and a boost in the 5-7 kHz range. This enhances attack, delivering a vintage tone for classic and alt-rock styles.

The SONIClear Bearing Edge is standard on all Black Panther Design Lab Shells. This edge allows the drumhead to sit flatter and make better contact with the shell, thereby resulting in a clearer fundamental pitch, consistent tuning and an expanded tuning range. The Natural Satin SONIClear Attenuation System (SAS) Finish is specially deployed to emphasise the beautiful character of the woods but allowing the shell to vibrate fully.
