With the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra v2 the effect manufacturer from Helsinki gives the bass player the ultimate tool to create a modern bass sound. Equipped with a separately switchable distortion section including basic and attack switches, a 4-band tone control with semi-parametric mid-bands and a balanced direct output with a loudspeaker simulation based on impulse responses, the analog bass preamp offers the full equipment for live and studio applications.

Defined distortion with brutal force

The separately switchable distortion section of the Darkglass B7K Ultra v2 is based on the analog circuit of the popular Darkglass Microtubes B3K and delivers correspondingly brute distortion, which however defines each tone and displays it transparently. The Grunt switch can be used to determine the proportion of low frequencies in the overdrive, while the Attack switch can be used to set the treble content. Depending on the equipment used, the sharpness of the sound image can be removed or an accentuated transparency can be added. In addition, the blend controller allows the stepless mixing of clean and effect signals to preserve pressure and assertiveness.

The Clean section of the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra v2 Preamps also offers a 4-band tone control, whose center bands each have triple switchable center frequencies. Accordingly, the sound character can be adjusted particularly precisely, so that the right bass sound for each genre can be found quickly. The master control can also be used to adjust the overall volume of the preamp after clean and distortion. To facilitate stage and studio use, the Darkglass Microtubes B7K Ultra is equipped with a balanced DI output in XLR format, via which the signal can be passed on to mixing consoles or recording equipment. In addition, a loudspeaker simulation based on impulse responses is available, which makes the sound particularly natural and lively. There is also a headphone connection on board for silent practice with first-class sound.
