The Beat Bars EX3 is a robust, all-purpose expression pedal with MIDI and USB connections . The EX3 is connected to the computer via USB and alternatively powered in MIDI mode. With the free MIDI configuration tool , which is available for MacOS, Windows and Linux, you can define on which channel, which controller with a definable range of values actions are executed. So it's easy to use the EX3 eg. via USB to control a cutoff parameter in Ableton Live or via MIDI to control a parameter of a rack synthesizer. The side-mounted selector switch determines whether the EX3 is in USB or MIDI mode. In the latter mode, power must still be supplied via USB- a power supply is not included.
