Critter & Guitari Video Scope Video Synthesizer

Our Video Scope video synthesizer produces colorful oscilloscope-style patterns on a television or projector. It displays the waveform of the audio input. It works particularly well with simple bassy tones. The grid of images on the left shows some of the possibilities when using the Pocket Piano as a sound source.

The Video Scope has two knobs. One knob controls the input gain, and the other knob selects one of four display modes: Line, Color Shifter, Trapezoid, and Randomizer. The Randomizer function randomly selects one of the other 3 modes at an adjustable rate. This is useful for hands-free operation as the display constantly changes.

The video to the left demonstrates some of the possible patterns. The sound in the video is the same sound that is feeding into the device to generate the patterns. Since it responds to an audio signal -- the sky is the limit with the different kinds of patterns you can generate.
