The Dynaudio 18S subwoofer uses advanced DSP modeling technology that acoustically adapts to Dynaudio professional studio monitors (BM, LYD and following models), effectively transforming a two-way system into a three-way system. The heart of this subwoofer is a 500-watt power amplifier that controls the two newly developed MSP+ Hybrid Drive Chassis in a powerful and controlled manner. But when operating with Dynaudio PRO monitors, a"seamless" adjustment is possible - an important prerequisite for absolute accuracy in mixing and mastering-
Versatile adjustment optionsBoth XLR and RCA connectors are available on the 18S. In addition, there are several useful functions for use in complex stereo and surround systems, including the possibility of signal delay to ensure that subwoofers and monitors work perfectly in sync. All you have to do is enter the distance to the speakers on the subwoofer. The subwoofer then automatically ensures correct reproduction by means of a signal delay and phase adjustment. A fully parametric three-band equalizer is also included. This gives you a grip on room fashions that could lead to problematic wrong decisions when mixing.
MSP+ Hybrid ChassisDynaudio has developed a completely new driver for the 18S. In contrast to the magnesium silicate polymer (MSP) otherwise used, it is made of aluminium. The back has a paper backing layer, the dust cap on the front is made of MSP and the housing of the 18S is extremely stable. The opposite arrangement of the two drivers prevents cabinet vibrations and reduces sound discoloration and distortion. The resulting slim housing shape also allows the S18 to be mounted on a wall to save space.
