About Epiphone:
Epiphone began manufacturing guitars in 1928. The first acoustic guitar was the so called Arch-top with a round sound hole, followed by the Arch-top with the typical f-sound holes, popular from violin making. By the mid '30s, Epiphone became so popular and successful with the Arch-top models that they quickly become serious completion for the market leader- Gibson. After the death of the founding family in 1957, Epiphone and its entire stock was sold to Gibson's parent company- Chicago Musical Instruments for 20,000 US dollars.
