Even a traditional manufacturer such as Gibson is willing to try something new- to give established models brand new features suitable for modern guitars.
What's new about the 2015 Gibson line-up?
In 2015 Gibson is giving all Les Paul and SG models (with the exception of the LP Supreme & Derek Truck's SG) the innovative G-Force System which allows the instrument to be automatically and perfectly tuned in seconds. It has been simplified and its functions enhanced over the preceding Min-ETune system. It also allows for open and drop tunings, as well as giving you possibility to program your own custom tunings.
Quick action adjustments with Gibson's new Zero Fret-Nut
An innovative and patent applied for "Zero Fret-Nut" offers two main advantages: 1. The Fret-Nut ensures the open tones as well as played notes to sound more balanced and even. 2. The nut provides action adjustment and thereby guarantees a longer life than other nuts made from bone or plastic.
The hardware includes the new Tune-o-Matic bridge, which weighs less and is easier to adjust. All of the instruments receive a professional setup with PLEK technology, promising the perfect shape of the frets and guaranteeing precise intonation.
When designing the 2015 Les Paul models, Gibson clearly wanted to improve playability and comfort even further. On each side Gibson has made the neck and fretboard wider by .050”. As a result playing bends and vibrato on the outer strings has become much easier and comfortable. Together with the adjustable action of the new Zero Fret nut and the smoother sanded, buffed and oiled fingerboard, the 2015 Gibson line-up is set to deliver the easiest and most comfortable playability.
Optically the Gibson 2015 models are reminiscent of the classics. All Les Paul models are equipped with the traditional Pearl trapeze inlays and possess the “100” logo on the headstock, as well as a hologram of the man himself who founded this successful American guitar manufacturer and is celebrating his 100th birthday this year.
Les Paul Traditional 2015
Originally the Les Paul had a very thick and heavy body with a neck to match, delivering seemingly endless sustain. The Traditional model is reminiscent of the glory days of the Les Paul, it does not feature any weight relief chambers like most modern guitars such as the Les Paul Standard, while the neck retains a thick Late '50s neck profile. Equipped with the other modern appointments of the 2015 Gibson line-up, such as the zero fret nut and the G-Force tuning system, this Les Paul creates a fantastic balance between old and new. The 1959 Les Paul is the legend itself and so Gibson has created a pair of pickups that are as close to the original tone as possible. The '59 Tribute humbuckers of the 2015 Les Paul Traditional produce a distinctly warm sound with depth and clarity that can only be produced from top Alnico II magnets.
