Cymbals from the Sound Lab
For 391 years Zildjian has been producing cymbals and has managed to firmly establish themselves by delivering exceptional quality while their traditional expertise has been directly involved in the development of the entire cymbal making craft. However this does not mean that Zildjian cannot develop any modern groundbreaking innovations. In the endeavour of creating completely new sounds, Zildjian presents the Project 391 cymbals with first ever alloy of 85% copper and 15%. The resulting B15 bronze is similar in its construction the alloy of the A Custom cymbals, yet serves an entirely different frequency spectrum.
Unconventional Lathe Pattern
Not only is the material new, but also the manufacturing process. In a process done by hand, the top as well as bottom surface of the Sound Lap Project 391 cymbals are lathed in two stages, giving them a soft, shimmering sound like that of a brilliant finish with the bite and the cut of regular cymbals. The unique lathe pattern delivers a never before seen look and a machine hammering rounds off the sound profile of the Project 391 cymbals. The bell is relatively flat and produces transparent sounds with fast attack resonance.
