Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 Analog Synthesizer

The Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 is a powerful monophonic synthesizer that combines the best of the old and the new, fusing analogue synthesis with state-of-the-art digital technology. The four digital oscillators and one sub oscillator that power this beast produce both classic and complex wave forms and can be used to modify each other allowing for both FM and AM outputs.

Despite the Pro 2’s monophonic nature, it is actually a paraphonic synth as the four oscillators can be control individually using their own envelopes. While similar to the Prophet 12 in ergonomics and playability, the Pro 2 has it’s own distinct sound with dual analogue filters, superwaves and a collosal step sequencer. The new filter system contains a four-pole low pass filter based on the Prophet-5 filter, and a second filter inspired by the Oberheim SEM that can be continusely varied between low-pass, notch, and high-pass operation, with an optional band-pass mode. These filters operate in both serial and parallel configurations and each inputs two of the oscillators

The Pro 2 boasts the usual array of functionality but in a typical Dave Smith Instruments style- amped up and ready to rock. The sequencer contains 32steps and 16 tracks and can sync to MIDI clock and external audio input. The delay is a four stage delay with three delays panable and with HPF and LPF controls, while the fourth is a digital bucket-brigade delay that allows for analogue-style effects. There are also four loopable five-stage envelope generators, four LFOs, a 16 slot modulation matrix and an arpeggiator.!!!
