Quality with Tradition
Founded in 1927 in Indiana, Electro Voice has been producing speakers since 50s and is today a large part of industry. The brand stands for robust, quality products, used in professional applications all around the world. The ELX-Series continues this tradition and impresses with modern design, practical features and serious performance.
High Power | Low Weight | Class-D Technology
Modern, digital power amplifiers have multiple advantages: Class-D amps operate at a significantly higher degree of efficiently compared to Class-B designs, at times over 90%. As less power is loss to heat, smaller cooling and transformer components are required which saves weight. As a result the Electro Voice ELX-18P, regardless of its robust housing, weighs less than 32kg. The large volume wood housing and the 18” woofer deliver serious bass even without subwoofer support. With a Peak output of up to 700 Watt, the class-D amp delivers ample power reserves to give transients the required push and it manages it all without any cooling fans. All of this results in a possible maximum SPL of 134 dB.
Connections and Applications
The rear interface offers two independently controllable inputs with XLR/TRS combo sockets. The Master Level control features a limit LED, which indicates when the limiter is activated to protect the ELX-118P against overloading. The Normal/Boost switch delivers a little extra bass while multiple systems can be controlled via the Link output. The ELX-118P is perfectly tuned to the Electrovoice active speakers ELX-112P and ELX-115P, which can be mounted on top of the ELX-118P with the integrated stand flanges and spacer rods. The extra power and lowered frequency range, delivers incredible bass sounds, perfect for bass-heavy music styles and making it predestined for middle to larger venues.
